Coconut oil

I want to introduce you all to the benefits of coconut oil.

There is a misconception spread among many people who think coconut oil is not good for the heart. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats.

However not all saturated fats are created equally and the ones in coconut oil are not like the long chain fatty acids found in friend and processed foods that are so detrimental to our health. The natural saturated fats it contains are called  medium chain triglycerides (MCT’s), more on them later.

Coconut oil is VERY beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The oil also reduces the incidence of injury in arteries and therefore helps in preventing atherosclerosis

Coconut oil is often preferred by athletes, body builders and by those who are dieting. The reason behind this being that coconut oil is made up mostly of unique healthy saturated fats called medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) which are most easily converted into energy by the liver and are healthy for the heart and arteries. Coconut oil boosts energy and endurance, and enhances their athletic performance.

Coconut oil has positive benefits in reducing body fat. It contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that can rev up the body’s metabolism. It is also easy to digest and aids the healthy functioning of the thyroid (critical to metabolism and weight loss) and enzyme systems. It also increases the body’s metabolism by removing stress on the pancreas, which means the body  will have a bigger supply of energy to burn body fat.

People who live in tropical coastal areas and eat coconut oil daily as a primary cooking oil, are normally not overweight. Pure coconut oil (make sure it is not hydrogenated – look for cold pressed) is actually one of the best options for a cooking oil, due to its highly stable nature under heat. This makes it much less inflammatory to your body compared to other oils such as soybean oil, corn oil, or other “vegetable” oils.

Here is what else it will benefit-

  • Hair and skin – fantastic nutrition for both
  • Premature aging– it’s a great anti-oxidant
  • Weight loss– will raise your metabolism therefore helping over weight and obese people lose weight.
  • Digestion – can help very well with IBS
  • Healing and infections – very effective against a variety of infections due to its antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial
  • Diabetes – great at controlling the blood sugar and insulin
  • Bones – improves the ability of our body to absorb important minerals like calcium and magnesium
  • Weight training – helps in boosting energy and endurance, and enhances the performance of athletes.

As with any product it is important you buy the right stuff, that contains what it is meant to at the right price. It has to be organic, raw, virgin coconut oil to get the positive properties mentioned above.

Below is a link to the coconut oil we use and recommend. If you have never ordered from Atleat before then you’ll get 10% off your first order if you follow this link.
