I hope you all had a great weekend?
Mine was pretty eventful, but will get into that later on…
Here are my top three tips for burning fat. There are loads out there, but if I could only do three, it would have to be these above all else…
- Heavy weight training: By far the best fat burner on the planet is heavy resistance or weight training. Ladies, contrary to what many believe heavy weights will not bulk you up and you won’t get too big (Guys you produce a lot more of the male hormone testosterone, so for you this is the best way to maximise GREAT lean muscle size gains). What it will do is make you stronger, leaner and lose body fat in abundance. The small amount of muscle you will put on will raise your metabolism significantly so you even burn fat at your desk and as you sleep. Even when doing a bootcamp, look to push yourself with the heaviest weights you can handle safely over the time frame
- Eat a big all protein breakfast: This is a tough one for many. This tip alone would have saved me years of struggling over why I couldn’t get as lean as I wanted. Your body CANNOT store fat if there is an absence of glucose. Glucose is released into the blood when carbohydrates are eaten. No carbs means no or very little glucose which means no fat storage. And guess what? You will actually have more energy after your carb free breakfast.
- Increase your daily intake of FAT: Yes, it’s absolutely true. Good dietary fat will not make you store fat. Hard to get your head around I know, but it is true. Good sources of fat like avocado, oily fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines, nuts and seeds (walnuts, almonds, pecans, macadamia) and good quality oils like extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil and of course, fish oils. If you substituted all your carbs for fat you would have an abundance of energy, your metabolism would rise, your general health and well being would increase and your work out – put in the office and the gym would dramatically improve. It’s a shame that the word fat is called fat. How do you tell someone to eat more fat and it won’t make them fat? But, this is tried and tested many times over. It works and you need to trust me on this. Please also remember to eat lots of veg. Broccoli is a super one.
- Eat 5 – 7 small protein based snacks/meals per day: This is so important. Your body needs small snacks, little and often to keep the metabolism ramped up high and burning fuel efficiently.
Ok…I know I said three tips, but I couldn’t miss this one out. So there we have my top three tips and a bonus tip for free 🙂
As for my weekend, we had the Movember Charity Gala on Friday which was really good fun, and our Charity Movember Bootcamp on Saturday. We had a full house at bootcamp and we had an absolute scream. Have a look at a few photos here.
I want to take the time to say thanks to the UCB Team who raised over £3500 and still counting. This is a fantastic achievement and I am very happy with this effort from everyone. Also a big thank you to many of you out there reading this email, as it was you guys that sponsored us all. Thank you. Movember UK has raised over £10 million so far this year, and that makes a huge difference in combating both prostate and testicular cancer and also allows the funding of genome research for these diseases.
That’s all for now guys, enjoy the rest of your week.
